God's Own Country facing natures wrath :-(

Kerala is a state on the southwestern, Malabar Coast of India, also known as 'God's Own Country'.

Kerala is spread over 38,863 km2 (almost 4 times Melbourne) and has a population of 34.8 million, a population density of 860 people per square KiloMeter.  This beautiful land is rightly called the paradise, given to its lush green scenic landscapes and crystal clear beaches that will leave you awestruck. Blessed with natural beauty and ecological diversity, Kerala has a lot to offer to tourists and travellers.

Enchanting beaches, backwaters, lip-smacking food, timeless tradition and rich flora and fauna made Kerala God's Own Country.

In August 2018, God's own Country faced the wrath of the nature. Kerala faced unusually high rainfall and faced the worst rainfall in nearly a century. 35 out of 55 dams in the state was forced to open. Heavy rain in Wayanad and Idukki (the two most beautiful places in Kerala) caused severe land slides. Roads were destroyed, railways and airports were flooded and electricity was shut down.

People had to leave their house back and had to swim (literally) to the nearest relief camp with heavy heart. More than 80% of the state was under water. 445 life were lost, 1 Million people were displaced in more than 3000 relief camps and US$3 Billion in property loss. (You can buy 5 coffees for a dollar in Kerala)
Kerala is a place where there are no religious boundaries and have a festival known as "Onam", which is celebrated by the whole state without any religious or political barrier. This year, Onam was swimming.

But, when humanity rises, there is nothing that can stop human beings. The whole population was out in the submerged street with boats and helping people and making sure that they reach a safe relief camp. The Indian Army, Kerala police, many other organisations and most of all the fishermen community of Kerala made sure that no one will be left behind.

Helping hands came from the Indian Government as well as from other State Government in the Country. There has been relief funds provided by International organisations as well as other Friendly Countries.
You had mobile phone, but no network or charge. You had Lamborghini, but it cant float. You had Credit Card, but no ATM machine. You had all the luxuries in life, but what did help you at the time of a natural calamity? Humanity. Humanity prevails, was the lesson that was taught to 35 million people by flood
If you wish to be the part of a helping hand please donate to Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund (https://donation.cmdrf.kerala.gov.in/) or share a moment of silence.
Altruism rose like phoenix in common peoples' mind and they all yelled "We shall overcome, together".
There is no one in Kerala who is an atheist now. "Have you met God?" "He came in August 2018 and pulled me from water to his boat."
